Friday 31 January 2020

We are proud of our former intern Verena Massl, who won this year’s Karl Golser prize for her thesis "Growing Up in a Bubble - Bilingual Education Experienced by Jewish and Palestinian Students in Israel".

Her final thesis was part of the master’s program "IRIS - Innovation in Research and Practice of Social Work" at the Faculty of Education at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. It is based on her research on the second generation of Wahat al-Salam - Neve Shalom.

Verena did the research for her thesis while interning at WASNS’s Communications and Development Office. Her stay was made possible by the Italian Friends of Neve Shalom - Wahat al-Salam, who awarding her a scholarship in the name of late Italian Friends board member Franca Ciccolo Fabris. While in the village she also wrote a number of articles describing her experience.

Verena hails from the German speaking South Tyrol region of northern Italy (where the University of Bozen-Bolzano is also situated).
