A second arson attack; this time at the peace library
Monday 7 September 2020

After another hard night in the village, it now seems clear to us that the fire that was a week ago in the building of the School for Peace was a hate crime.
In the early morning hours of Monday, September 7, there was arson of another building, the Fred Segal Peace Library. The building survived an event that could have been much larger and more dangerous only thanks to the automatic fire suppression system. The blaze was restricted to one hall, and mostly furniture was burned.
A second attack in a week on our institutions and the agenda of peace and justice marks a step up in hatred, incitement to violence, and a loosening of the rule of law against destructive forces.
* The official reports from the police and fire departments indicate that inflammable materials were found at both fire sites. As yet, we have no knowledge of who might be the perpetrators. We can only say that these were acts of violence against the educational peace institutions. We will remain vigilant, and continue to update.
