Dorit Shippin

Dorit Shippin was born in 1958 in Givataim, Israel to a secular Jewish family. Her parents emigrated from Germany and Poland to Palestine in the 1930s.

She came to live in Wahat al-Salam – Neve Shalom in 1984 at the age of 26, with her husband Howard and baby son, Yonatan. Her other two children, Ella and Yotam, were born while she was living in the village.

Over the years, she has performed various function; from working in the village nursery, to being assistant manager of the hotel and managing the Pluralistic Spiritual Community Center.

She has also taken on various voluntary roles. She has served on the municipal committee, where she was the first woman to occupy the role of chairperson.

In 2020 she became involved in a new mediation initiative that sought to use mediation techniques to resolve personal, workplace and community issues.

Professionally, Dorit is a yoga and mindfulness teacher.
