School for Peace wins the Goldberg Prize

Thursday 14 June 2018

The C&D office is proud to announce that Dr. Nava Sonnenschein and Mr. Harb Amara of the School for Peace(SFP) were awarded the Institute of International Education’s 2018 Victor J. Goldberg Prize for Peace for their leadership of the Change Agents Program for Jewish and Palestinian Professionals at Neve Shalom – Wahat al-Salam(NSWAS).

The Change Agents Program brings together Palestinian and Jewish professionals to examine how their national, ethnic, and professional identities influence their perceptions of and interactions with “the other”, and to develop and implement joint peace-building projects that catalyse a just and equitable resolution to the conflict in the region.

Sonnenschein and Amara state: “Our current realities require that we continue to work hard to create and apply innovative and nonviolent approaches to teaching and learning that will promote democracy, peace, equality, and justice for all. We thank the Institute for International Education for this tremendous honour, and express gratitude to our friends, colleagues, supporters, and Neve Shalom – Wahat al-Salam Friends Associations around the world.”

The prize was awarded in Jerusalem on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.
