Update on the campaign to rebuild the School for Peace
Sunday 1 August 2021

We are happy to report that we have achieved commitments for the funding necessary to begin rebuilding the School for Peace complex.
As reported last September, the School for Peace building was largely destroyed in an arson attack by unknown assailants at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.
Since then, we have been working assiduously to secure funding towards rebuilding the compound.
Till now, seventeen different foundations and organizations have committed to assist us in this crucial project, including, of course, many of our dearest friends and supporters. This gives us enough money to begin the project. The final amount necessary will be fully known only when we have firm price offers from contractors.
In the meantime, we have cleared away the burnt rubble and are currently in the process of choosing between several architects to take on the task of designing the new building and moving it toward construction.
A small team from the village building committee, the Communications and Development office, and the School for Peace will oversee the process to ensure both the proper transfer of funds and the building of a new structure that will meet the unique needs of the School for Peace.
