Statement on the current situation

The residents of Wahat al-Salam / Neve Shalom condemn the cycle of violence and call on both sides to put an end to it.

We urge the Israeli government and the political leadership to show responsibility and restraint in these difficult days while preserving the holy places for each population.

We condemn the trigger happy policy that is being applied towards Palestinian citizens of Israel and Palestinians in the occupied territories.

The experience of joint living with dignity and equality for the past 40 years in the village of Neve Shalom / Wahat al Salam has taught us that this is possible.

In order to put an end to hostility and bloodshed the occupation must end and there must be complete equality between the two peoples.
