A visit by Baroness Deech; and about her upcoming lecture

The British Friends of NSWAS, Oasis of Peace UK, have announced the 10th annual Rueff lecture, this year to be given by Baroness Deech on the subject of ’Islamophobia, Antisemitism and how to combat them’

On Sept. 27, Baroness Deech visited Wahat al-Salam - Neve Shalom together with former ambassador to Israel Sir Andrew Burns KCMG, who chairs Oasis of Peace UK.

Development director Samah Salaime and Visitors Center director Rita Boulos welcomed them, explaining the village and its institutions. Afterwards, they met with Dr. Nava Sonnenschein, director of the School for Peace, who told about the SFP’s current activities and plans.

The Oasis Art Gallery curator Dyana Shalufi Rizek gave them a tour of the gallery’s current exhibition featuring beautiful and impressive works by Palestinian artist Khader Hassan Oshah.

They finished up with lunch at the Ahlan Cafe where they discussed with Rayek his autobiographical book. We were highly impressed with Baroness Deech. Bookings for her lecture can be made via the attractive new Oasis of Peace UK website
