Visit from American interfaith coalition
Thursday 27 February 2020

A group of 25 persons came in the framework of a visit organized by women engaged in interfaith work in Kansas City.
Many of the group were members from the Sisterhood of Salaam-Shalom, which aims "to build trust, respect, and relationships between American and Canadian Muslim and Jewish women and teenage girls" had lunch in the village. Visit Center director Rita Boulos accompanied them on a walking tour. Her husband Daoud spoke to the group and development director Samah Salaime joined too.
The Sisterhood’s executive director of the organization, Sheryl Olitzky discussed possibilities for future cooperation such as inviting Samah and School for Peace director Nava Sonnenschein to give a talk on the village and its educational peace work.
According to their website, women of the Sisterhood of Salaam-Shalom "commit to end acts of anti-Jewish and anti-Muslim sentiment, stand up for one another when hate is aimed at our communities and engage in social action work."
The organization has "chapters throughout the United States, Canada, and in England! Chapter members participate in dialogue, socialize, and take part in social action projects. All the while, members are expanding their knowledge of each other’s practices and beliefs, forming strong friendships."
Thanks to Sheryl Olitzky for sharing photos from their visit.
