Visit by Janet Langhart and William Cohen
Monday 21 January 2008

January 20: American TV Journalist and author Janet Langhart visited with her husband, former senator and secretary of defense William Cohen; Cohen Group Executive Operations Director Jeffrey Sorenson; US Embassy Cultural Attaché, Efraim Cohen; and the Embassy’s senior cultural affairs specialist Helena Mitchell.
The group met with NSWAS members, visited the primary school and early childhood education centre and stayed for lunch at the Gallery Café.
Ms. Langhart discussed with NSWAS members the many points of similarity between the civil-rights struggle of African Americans and the objectives of Neve Shalom Wahat al-Salam. She took care to capture these discussions on film. Before leaving, she gave us an advance signed copy of her new one-act play about an imagined conversation between Anne Frank and Emmet Till.
From the visitors’ book:
"God bless what you and the teachers and children are doing to benefit the world and peace." - Janet Langhart Cohen
"A philosopher has said that ’There’s not enough darkness in the world that can put out the light from a single candle.’ You are the candle that will light the path to peace." - Bill Cohen
"All the best of luck with all that you are doing here at Neve Shalom. God bless you." Jeffrey S. Sorenson.
