Visit of Diplomatic Spouses
Tuesday 23 October 2012, by

On Tuesday October 23 a group from the diplomatic spouses club in Israel visited NS/WAS. They were 26 women representing different nationalities: Holland, Germany, UK, USA, Turkey, Egypt, Argentine, South Africa, Serbia, Japan, South Korea, Ecuador, Sweden and Slovakia.
The program began with a visit to Latrun Monastery where they saw a short film about the Monastery and witnessed the sabotage to the entrance of the church which was perpetrated by Jewish radicals. The group arrived at WAS-NS after the visit to Latrun and were received at the hotel balcony, where they were given an introduction to the village, its history, institutions and life in general. After the introduction we began a tour of the village and stopped at the primary school where we were received by Anwar Dawood, the headmaster. He gave the group a talk about the bi-national school and later the group mingled with the children in the playground.
The second stop was at the School for Peace, where the group was received by Dr. Nava Sonnenschein. She gave a detailed talk about the work of the School for Peace and future projects.
The group received printed material about the village and its institutions for delivery to their country’s cultural attachés. We also asked the group to pass on an invitation to their diplomatic corps to visit the village.
The program ended with lunch at Ahlan Café by the village entrance.
