Global Climate Scream Opening
Thursday 8 September 2022

“We are blessed in this village,” says Oasis Art Gallery curator Dyana Shaloufi Rizek, “to have experts and people who are knowledgeable on environmental issues, including on the tragedy of global climate change.” Thus, the opening of the exhibit Global Climate Scream, held on Sept. 6, was a unique combination of art and impassioned discussion on the environment.
Two of the artists participating in the exhibit were there to present their work: sculptor Nihad Dabeet, from Ramle, and Alex Erez. Dyana presented the others, and she talked about the artistic touches she added to the exhibit and the photos displayed alongside the art that show the terrible reality of global climate change.
Village residents Ori Zohar Shemesh, Amit Kitain and Dr. Avner Gross led the discussion, and the courtyard was packed with village members, residents and friends, who listened with rapt attention.
Among the subjects discussed – the cost to future generations and the growing gap between most of the world’s population and the corporations and governments that profit from the present situation – participants were reminded that everyone has a part to play, as individuals, as part of a village, and as members of activist organizations that work to change that situation. Time is running out, but there is still a chance to create a better future.
