A day of mindfulness, facilitated by Buddhist monk Tai Doji

Doumia Sakinah and NSWAS hosted a mindfulness practice day which was attended by a large number of people from around the country, as well as some members of the community itself. A meeting with Buddhist monks

Two Buddhist monks, Tai Doji and Fab Min, from the community of Plum Village in France led a talk for NSWAS members and residents on the subject of "Community life and attention to communication from the heart." Senior monk Tai Doji began with a presentation of tools and methods which had been found useful in Plum Village to ease communication in Community Life. After his presentation, the discussion was opened for NSWAS residents, and a heartful interchange developed.

"Forbidden Marriages in the Holy Land"
September 2002
Michel Khleifi’s film, "Forbidden Marriages in the Holy Land" (1995), deals with various forms of mixed marriage in Israel (particularly between Arabs and Jews), and the difficulties the couples encounter due to religious and cultural traditions.
Khleifi, a Palestinian born in Nazareth and currently living in Belgium visited NSWAS together with film director Eyal Sivan, during the process of their production of a joint film dealing with the subject of the 1947 line of partition.

Study meeting on the Sukkot holiday

Rabbi Joshua Engleman of Jerusalem came to speak on "The Sukka as a radical reception of guests: the question of how much our gates are open to peace?"
Rabbi Engleman is a teacher of Judaism at Kolot Seminary and the Hebrew University. In addition he treats children at Ayalon Centre, Jerusalem and is a composer of Jewish soul music.
The meeting was attended by a small circle of Jewish and Palestinian members of NSWAS and guests. After the presentation, an interesting discussion (...)
